The Banshee

The Banshee, a set I designed in my early years of SCAD, consisted of a skirt and a jacket with painted denim sleeves. The garments combine to create a haunting, elongated, yet elegant silhouette to reference the myth that inspired it. Banshees, also known as the whaling women, are spirits of Irish Celtic Folklore that would warn of coming death. Misunderstood Beautiful beings that I used this Garment to explore their symbolism and story, for a crying spirit not many seemed to hear them.

This garment and its accompanying photoshoot come from early on in my fashion design career, but regardless I am proud of the results. There is much to learn and grow from but never the less there was a lot of passion behind this work.
